Sit n' Stitch benefitting Project Linus

October 27, 2016

Piggy-backing off our fibers theme for the month of November, we are incredibly excited to announce that we will be hosting a charity sit n' stitch next Saturday, November 5th from 10am - 4pm to benefit the Wake County chapter of Project Linus! Project Linus is a national charity that provides handmade blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or are otherwise in need. We have the wonderful opportunity to be a part of a truly amazing cause, and use our skills to make a difference. All levels of expertise are welcome, so bring your own materials to make handcrafted blankets using knit, crochet, or fleece. Guidelines for blankets (sizes, materials, etc.) can be found here and instructions for simple fleece blankets can be found here! If you can't sit and stitch with us on the 5th, please feel free to make a blanket and drop it off during our hours that Saturday. Thank you all in advance for your support!

Snitches Get Stitches

We know you've all been waiting to hear about the theme for November's First Friday event, so here it is! Snitches Get Stitches: An Exhibition of Contemporary Fiber Arts. You can expect to see a wide selection of work from some of the fibers students within the College of Design—including some very special pieces from Justin LeBlanc's guerilla fibers course. Weaving, embroidery, inflatable sculptures, and a few other surprises will all be at 133 Fayetteville Street from 6-11 on Friday November 4th with special hours from 10-4 on Saturday November 5th and we'd love to see you there to support our local fiber artists!

Thank You!

We here at the Fish Market Gallery would like to extend our warmest thanks to all of you who could make it to our October First Friday event! We featured 17 extremely talented artists showing a variety of creepy works, and we could not be happier that so many of you got to come and experience all that these talented student artists have to offer. We will be participating in November First Friday as well and bringing you an entirely new set of sensational artwork. Check in again soon—we will be announcing the November theme next week!
